Re: A Tale of 2 Stim Plans: US Sold Out, Intel Got It Right

It's hard not to look at the stimulus package announced last week and not be disappointed. About 35 percent of it is tax cuts that will be so small for the majority of us that it simply won't have an impact other than to put the country in deeper debt. Intel announced its own stimulus package in the form of a massive investment in new fabs; the difference being that the Intel program which also has, for a corporation, unprecedented spending will result in a word that Washington appears to have forgotten -- revenue, and another they likely can't even spell: profit.

Product of the week: the PC

Actually, I think it should be product of the year. As the time goes by more and more things are linked to the PC. What I love the most is playing WoW, it relieves stress except for wow gold [http://wowgoldpig.com] farming.

excellent article - excellent comparison

Thank you for the article. It was spot on.

Certainly gald to see you have an open mind, and are willing to give this a chance. We are in uncharted waters and these are just the first steps to the beginning of a recovery package. I hope and pray this plan works. Obviously you don't share the the same sentiment. Well I hear the weather is nice in Panama, so don't let the door hit you in the back side on your way out.

Open Mind

So your advice is that when a bunch of politicians spend nearly a trillion dollars we don't have to do something that by any real measure will have no impact to shut-up and move out of the country? Actually, that may not be bad advice but I think it probably best for the world that most of us don't actually take it.

You clearly have more faith in the political process than I do. It would be interesting to see you argue any of the points I made as to sustained impact and real stimulus. What do you think will happen when the money for this program runs out? What will you do with an extra $17 a paycheck to stimulate sales?

Actually I didn't give any advice, other than give the plan a chance. As you stated economists' can't agree on the solution or effects.
You give advice that is old school of thought. However I can't argue your points as they are sound. Other than the fact that this is the worse mess this country or anyone else has ever seen, and although this was created by unbound reckless spending, it seems the only way out is more spending. And a lot of it. It is going to be a very fine line to walk and a great balancing act to pull it off. As I said I hope and pray the current Administration and the President have all the knowledge and insight it takes to make this work.
Also maybe I misread you in that " As therapy for me as I plan my relocation to Panama", you were already packing you bags to move. And I certainly never said to "shut-up".

1) "I hear the weather is nice in Panama, so don't let the door...."
2) sarcastic comments about open mind/giving the boondoggle a chance

Both indicate shut up and get out of the USA. [which by the way is not supportive of our Constitution or Bill of Rights]

The reason many do not feel a need to 'give it a chance' is because HISTORY has proven time and time again, growing government and placing people into welfare/dependent mentalities leads to the destruction of a country.

Not only is it destructive - it creates a noble vs serf structure within the country.

What amazes me is how people think spending more money gets one out of debt. Get out of debt by becoming more indebted. Since you cannot see the reality of the situation, I have to wonder if you are one of those people we are bailing out with our hardearned dollars.

This country is not supposed to have the tax load it does have. The politicians are spending OUR money, not theirs. That is what you all seem to forget. It is OUR money they are spending. OUR hardearned money. Theirs is not touched. The politicians seek whatever means to spare themselves from taxes. They shelter their money in ways most of us do not even think are possible. No wonder they do not care that taxing us is OK.

WE become poorer when they tax us more. WE lose jobs when they tax our companies more. NOT them though - they just do not pay taxes until they are exposed and even then they do not pay the penalties the people do (jail, interest, penalties, lawyer fees, etc).

What you see occurring with this stimulus bill is a creation of a European style society rather than the independent courageous entrepreneurial country the USA has been up until this year.

You want the government to be your mommy - go for it... the rest of us do not.
