Nokia, Land Rover Create Phone System for SUVs

Nokia and Land Rover have created a Personal Telephone Integration (PTI) System for Land Rover vehicles, the companies said today. The new system offers features such as connection either via Bluetooth Latest News about Bluetooth wireless technology or via wired connection using a compatible mobile phone holder.

Marcus Stahl, General Manager of Automotive Accounts for Nokia Smart Traffic Products said in a statement that the PTI System is designed to meet drivers' increased demand for advanced technology inside their vehicles. All functions are accessible via the vehicle's central "infotainment" display. The system can be used with a range of mobile phones from different manufacturers.

Voice dialing and other phone functions can be activated using the vehicles' steering wheel controls. The voice function enables speaker independent number dialing and access to voice tags.

The companies say new Land Rover vehicles incorporating the PTI System should be available in the U.S., Asia and Europe by the end of the year.
