One of the issues with virtual reality is that expectations have been overset massively with TV shows like Star Trek: The Next Generation , which promised an artificial reality indistinguishable from reality. VR failed. It didn't have to -- there is a pattern to bringing out successful technology that is repeatable. You create a complete experience regardless of cost, then cost-reduce it. Sadly, the more common path is to try to hit an aggressive price point first and deliver a crippled experience.

As a Director and Developer of VR, I whole heartedly agree with this article. There is so much in the meantime that we can accomplish with the technology that we currently have, and when other developers try to push the envelope to create a piece of content that lacks the immersive technology, you off put everyone who experiences it. The best thing to do is create a story based off of what we currently have available to us, only then will we be able to have a gradual push forward, where we should be. We are not Star Trek, we are humans living in a this what we have available world. I get so tired of people selling dreams to studios and other marketing agencies. It makes me feel gross because I'm here developing content that is fun and can be used. Stillcottagestudios.com

VR, whatever, boring. HD, Ultra HD etc... just another fad to take your money. A standard HD TV connected to a computer is all you need

What best describes your attitude toward social networks and politics?
The value of engaging in serious political discourse outweighs the negatives.
Most of the political conversations seem overheated and ignorant.
Social networks provide a lot of very good political information from reliable sources.
Almost every political post I see is skewed or totally fake.
Political interactions on social networks simply mirror those in the real world.
Social networks remove inhibitions, bringing out the worst in people and politics.
