I gotta call BS on OnLive
10/27/09 12:24 AM PT | TechNewsWorld Talkback Forum | 293 Words

Enderle, while services like OnLive might work in limited markets like NY and L.A., the rest of us need PCs because it is far cheaper to simply walk into a store and by software for hardware we have at home than it is paying for the bandwidth something like OnLive would chew through.

And gaming PCs have never been cheaper, in my own case I paid $650 before rebates for 8Gb of RAM, dual core AMD, 1Tb of HDD, and a 4650 ATI ...

Smells like Intel paid Sonia
06/14/08 8:47 AM PT | TechNewsWorld Talkback Forum | 742 Words

AMD may be reluctant to increase their GHz rate or number of processors, as fast as Intel because they want to provide an architecture that will really utilize the power of having more.

AMD's most recent purchase of ATI provided an...

Intel will become akin to ATI, where they sell mainly to the lowend desktops, while their main competator gobbles up the market because they own the high end market. They'll realize too late that the high end eventually becomes the low end.

Can AMD make Apple happy?
04/27/10 1:43 PM PT | MacNewsWorld Talkback Forum | 103 Words

After all they also get ATI which I think does better then Nvidia in the high end graphics.
But that's just my own opinion and I am really not a big...

... are choosing the "imaginary problems kill windows" meme along with "works for me", is this correct? please in the future go to TM Repo and choose the appropriate number of the lame excuse you are gonna use, kthanx.

Are you gonna say that Ms Hudson with more than a decade's worth of exp as an admin is "doing it wrong"? its a shame i can't post links here or i'd put the one from Dell where they have to run their own repo just to keep Linux from falling down and going BOOM! if one of the largest OEMs on the planet can't even get any decent QA from the developers, even though they ONLY offer Linux on a teeny tiny subset of hardware? The rest of us have better odds of winning the powerball.

Look pogson i've seen linux make a stinky with my own two eyes waaaaay too often, and we are talking bog standard hardware, realtek, atheros, ati ...

Local when you can, remote when you can't.

This is where Linux will break out, If ever.
Until then, We get to speculate on whether Nvidia will open its drivers for Tegra, or ATI for Fusion under android, or meego,...

I gotta call BS!
10/08/10 7:33 PM PT | LinuxInsider Talkback Forum | 588 Words

Why? Because it is all hearts and flowers UNTIL something goes wrong, which I have found is pretty much daily. for example: Out of the 4 boxes I sat up, all using Bog standard parts like ATI, Broadcom, Nvidia, Realtek, SiS, etc,...

If the companies I deal with don't properly support Linux I won't bother dealing with them the same way I don't bother with hardware on Windows that makes me jump through hoops on Windows(yes they happen).

Oh sure you'll get some over priced junk that won't make a difference, like the JooJoo, but allow ARM to get a serious hold on the market? Not as long as Intel has a pulse.

What do you see as the biggest obstacle to mainstream adoption of video calling?
Too many steps are required to reach a contact.
Video quality is often poor -- dropped calls, frozen images.
There's no advantage to face-to-face communication in most cases.
Too many people feel uncomfortable on live cameras.
There are too many security and privacy issues.
The trend is away from personal engagement and toward texting.
The obstacles are fading, and video calling is well on its way to adoption.
