Art Technology Group (Nasdaq: ARTG) rose 17 to 111 1/2 while competitor BroadVisionplunged 13 5/8 to 40 after American Airlines awarded Art Technology a contract to build its Web site.
The airline, a unit of AMR Corp. (NYSE: AMR), picked Art Technology’s Dynamo product line because of its “well-developed personalization engine,” said Scott Hyden, managing director of interactive marketing at American.
The airline is redesigning its site to provide customers with “simpler, faster and more intuitive” booking and information procedures, Hyden said. The revamped site will be completed later this year.
Terms of the contract were not disclosed. BroadVision had reportedly worked with American Airlines for two years before losing out to its smaller rival.
