In a move that could help its profit margins, online pharmacy Drugstore.com (Nasdaq: DSCM) unveiled its own line of health and wellness products on Monday. The new line includes aspirin and other pain-relief products, vitamins, mineral and herbs. Shares of Drugstore.com climbed 2-13/16 to 51-5/16 on Monday.
The stock was also boosted by a buy rating from Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette, which was a co-manager for Drugstore.com’s initial public offering. On Friday, Drugstore.com announced the addition of two notable names to its board of directors. Joining the board are Martin Grass, CEO of Rite Aid; and Melinda Gates, wife of Microsoft CEO Bill Gates. Drugstore.com CEO Peter Neupert is a former Microsoft executive.
