Stock Watch: iTurf Gains on Q2 Revenue Rise

iTurf Inc. (Nasdaq: TURF) rose 1/8 to 1 7/8 Friday after reporting an increase in revenue for the second quarter. President and Chief Executive Officer Stephen Kahn attributed the improved revenue to strong e-commerce business and higher advertising revenue.

iTurf, which operates a network of Web sites aimed at 13 to 24 year-olds, said revenue for the quarter ended July 29th rose to $7.7 million from $3 million in the same quarter last year. The company posted a net loss before items of $8 million, or 40 cents per share, compared with a loss of $1.7 million, or 10 cents, from the year-earlier quarter.

Traffic in July totaled 179 million page views, up from 82 million in July 1999. The number of unique visitors to iTurf’s sites was 2.9 million during July, an Internet reach of 3.3 percent. The company’s sites include gURL.com, Droog.com, Discountdomain.com and TSIsoccer.com.
