This week is slow for initial public offerings, with just four companies expected to go public. However, one of these offerings is certainly worth watching. This week’s top IPO looks like McAfee.com, a software company that develops anti-virus software, Y2K solutions and other programs. McAfee.com should benefit from its very strong underwriting team of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, Hambrecht & Quist and Robertson Stephens.
McAfee’s proposed price range for $6.3 million shares is $6 to $8. Do not be surprised if this range is raised and the stock opens at a strong premium. Demand appears to be high for this IPO, largely because McAfee.com has good brand awareness.
